In the international health field, the Spanish Agency for International Cooperation (AECI) finances basic operation of the Centro de Investigación en Salud de Manhiça (CISM), which carries out studies into malaria, tuberculosis and other pathologies. The CISM also carries out several other projects sponsored by other funding institutions, including, among others, the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, the BBVA Foundation, the La Caixa Foundation and the Agencia Catalana de Cooperació al Desenvolupament. Moreover, the AECI funds management and operation of the maternity ward of the Hospital Español de Tetuán, in northern Morocco, and the project to support the public health system in northern Argentina.
