The Fundació Clínic is renowned for excellence in the field of international health and is a leading point of reference both nationally and internationally. Its work in this field is based on a model that integrates a powerful research unit with world-class health care and academic institutions such as the Hospital Clínic and Universitat de Barcelona.
The Fundació Clínic develops co-operation projects in low-income countries through entities such as the Centro de Investigación en Salud Internacional de Manhiza (CISM) in Mozambique (CISM) or the Maternity Ward of the Hospital Español de Tetuán (Morocco).
These two pioneering centres in the international health research field receive funding from numerous sources, among them the Agencia Española de Cooperación Internacional (AECI) reporting to the Spanish Ministerio de Asuntos Exteriores, the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, the Fundación BBVA, the Fundación La Caixa and the Generalitat de Catalunya.
